Marty Thaler’s foundation class recently finished their redesigns of the common pedestal file and have installed an exhibit of their models on the fourth floor. Above are some of the pictures from the installation and the finished 1/2 scale model photos. I encourage everyone to go check out the exhibit when they get a chance. It is pretty amazing that these students were able to build the exhibit in only one day. Below is a description of the assignment from the exhibit:
How would you organize your life?
Students were charged with redesigning the common pedestal file to better meet their personal organization needs.
The goal of the pedestal redesign was to think deeply about the way we organize and then design a form appropriate to those needs.
By referencing everything from furniture to the Rubik’s Cube, the resulting designs illustrate a proper balance between expression, feasibility and craft.
