Civil engineering and visual art come together in a new photography exhibition of work by IIT alumnus Robert David (DSGN ‘73).

David developed both his career in engineering and his interest in photography while pursuing his master’s degree at IIT’s Institute of Design. After 30 years as Design Director with the Golden Gate Bridge Highway and Transportation District, he is retired but photographs the bridge’s seismic retrofit—a massive effort to prevent potential earthquake damage. David documents technical details at a high resolution in large-format photographs.

The exhibition is held in conjunction with the 35th Annual Chicago Regional Bridge Building Contest.
